Working Today is a national organization representing America's growing population of independent workers (currently 30% of the nation's workforce) through advocacy, information, and services. Working Today harnesses technology to reach large numbers of independent workers at a low cost, providing access to services previously available only to a traditional, full-time, long-term workforce.
- Grew by 75% (from 4,696 to over 8,200) the number of individuals covered with health insurance through Working Today.
- Increased Working Today's Portable Benefits Network member retention rate to 94.5%, up more than 2 percentage points from 2004.
- Working Today released a policy report, "The Rise of the Freelance Class," based on a survey of 2,800 New York area freelance workers. 28% of survey respondents spent some portion of the previous year without health insurance and fewer than half saved monthly for retirement.
- Working Today continues efforts to set employer standards for the independent workforce, launching its second annual survey to identify New York City's most "freelancer-friendly" companies.
