The vast majority of Marci's academic and professional life has been focused on exploring ways to improve access to quality healthcare, but it wasn't until she assumed the challenge of co-founding a nonprofit that she found her niche. She thoroughly enjoys devising pragmatic and actionable paths to bring fantastic ideas to life, and is inspired every day by providing socially motivated visionaries the support they need to do extraordinary things.

Prior to joining New Profit in November 2008, Marci co-founded Impact Pediatrics International, Inc., a nonprofit that launches outcome-oriented, sustainable health programs designed to improve the wellbeing of children living in global resource-limited settings. Marci also has five years of experience in healthcare investing and consulting for Perry Capital, a New York City-based hedge fund, and The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare consultancy in Washington, DC. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Economics and Politics, and received a Masters of Science in Healthcare Management and Policy from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Marci is an avid foodie and cook with a knack for whipping up gourmet meals from limited supplies of mismatched items from the fridge - she likes the challenge! When Marci's not in her kitchen, she can usually be found with her husband, Jonathan, and puppy, Hanalei, in a local dog park or back home visiting her family in Florida. She also day dreams about her next international jaunt, having most recently spent time in Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, China, and Lebanon. Marci recently gave birth to an exuberant baby boy, Zeke, in November 2009. She, Jonathan, Zeke, and Hanalei live in Cambridge, MA.

Favorite place in the entire world?
San Pedro de Atacama, a tiny desert town in Northern Chile with expansive salt flats populated by wild flamingos, immense sand dunes, hot springs in the mountains, and ominous desert caves that make you feel like you have traveled to a different planet.
