Kathryn Price
Director of Operations and Talent
Over the course of her six-year tenure with New Profit, Kathryn has worked across almost all departments and projects. After serving as Chief of Staff for two years, she is now responsible for managing and supporting all things operations and staff-related at New Profit, including finance, performance management, recruiting, and staff development.
Kathryn first became interested in the nonprofit sector during college while volunteering for Peace Games, a Boston-based organization working to help children develop the skills, knowledge, supportive relationships, and opportunities they need to prevent violence and build safer communities. Her involvement with Peace Games forced Kathryn to escape the Tufts campus at least once a week, reminding her that there was a world and community beyond the hill. She fell in love with the organization's mission, her classroom, and the students, all of which led her to commit herself to a career dedicated to social change. During college, Kathryn was also introduced to venture philanthropy, Vanessa Kirsch, and New Profit. Having experienced working for a start-up nonprofit, the concept of venture philanthropy truly resonated, and she made it her personal mission to join the New Profit team.

Before joining New Profit, Kathryn was an undergraduate student at Tufts University. She graduated in 2003 with a degree in quantitative economics. Immediately following Tufts and preceding New Profit, Kathryn worked for a performing arts nonprofit where she managed volunteers, sold tickets, and acted as a roadie.

Apart from operations and talent, Kathryn enjoys playing tennis, working on puzzles with her nieces, and staying connected to her alma mater. She is currently serving as the President of the Association of Tufts Alumnae. Kathryn lives with her husband, John, in Brookline.
Q&A
What is the most unusual job you've ever had?
During high school, I worked as a gas-dock girl at a marina on the Cape. Sounds amazing, right? Easy job, get to be outside in the sun all day, hanging out near the beach, etc. Well, it wasn't. I don't like boats and I get motion sick while walking on floating docks. It was kind of my personal nightmare.

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?
New Profit Staff Olympics. Our team is really talented.

Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind wake in the day to find that all was vanity; but the dreamers of the day...act their dream with open eyes, and make it possible.
