Laurie Thomsen, Executive Partner

Laurie Thomsen joined New Profit as a Partner in September 2006 after serving on the Board of New Profit for five years. Laurie works closely with New Profit’s portfolio organizations and assists with fundraising.

Prior to coming to New Profit, Laurie had been a co-founding Partner of Prism Venture Partners, a $1 billion plus venture capital firm where she invested in a number of medical and healthcare information technology companies. Before starting Prism, Laurie was a partner at Harbourvest Venture Partners where she invested in healthcare and communications companies for eleven years. Laurie also spent five years in commercial lending at U.S. Trust Company of New York after college.

Laurie serves on the boards of The Travelers Companies and MFS Mutual Funds, in addition to serving on the boards of Williams College and Horizons for Homeless Children. Laurie has been an Overseer at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston for many years.

Laurie graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in art history and economics and she received a Master’s in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Management.
